Though it's hard for me to remember (or even believe), it's true that I was single once -- and for a very long time. I was single for that birthday milestone, 30. I hadn't even met the man who would become my husband yet. I was single for 35, too (but I had at least met the man). And I was single when Newsweek (or was it Time?) magazine said I was more likely to be killed by a terrorist than to marry at my sorry decrepit age.

I'm very pleased to say, however, that that was then and this is now. Now, it's a good thing I AM married. There, that was just in case my husband or son read this (no, really, I mean it).
